Pirelli ‘Gold’ for sustainability with S&P Global

Pirelli holds the distinction of being the only company within the automotive components sector to achieve ‘Gold Class’ in the SAM Sustainability Yearbook 2020, which is now published by S&P Global. Other tyre makers to gain a ranked position in the Yearbook were Hankook Tire & Technology and Nokian Tyres, which both achieved SAM Bronze Class, and Bridgestone Corporation, which was acknowledged as a Sustainability Yearbook Member.

The Italian tyre maker topped the category with a SAM ESG Score of 85; S&P Global describes this score as a “robust measure” of a company’s financially material Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors. The average for the sector was 33 points; Nokian, Hankook and Bridgestone scored 79, 78 and 72 points respectively.

The SAM Sustainability Yearbook 2020 contains the results of the SAM 2019 Annual Corporate Sustainability Assessments, in which 4,710 companies from 61 industries were assessed.
