Vipal Rubber exhibits at US truck show

Global retreading supplier Vipal Rubber was one of 500 exhibitors in the truck fleet sector taking part in the Great American Trucking Show between 25 and 27 August in Dallas, Texas, USA. Representing Vipal were Leonardo Oliveira, Vipal Rubber’s technical and sales representative, and Amaramh Velazquez, Vipal’s sales representative in the Western United States. Vipal introduced tyres retreaded by its customer Panhandle Tire & Rubber, from Amarillo TX with its VT170 ECO and VL130 ECO treads, which focus on wet grip and wear resistance respectively.

Arisun and Westlake tyres gain SmartWay accreditation

Three Arisun and Westlake brand tyres, which are manufactured by Zhongce Rubber Group Co., Ltd. (ZC Rubber) in China, recently achieved Smartway fuel efficiency accreditation from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Westlake AT566 long haul tyre, Arisun AT570 long haul tyre, Arisun AD778 regional driver tyre all qualified of the low rolling resistance standard.

SmartWay approval for second Vipal ‘ECO’ tread

Vipal Rubber says it invests in technology and in the development of products that save money while minimising their environmental impact, and the latest Vipal release to arise from this focus is the VT170 ECO. The retreading materials producer reports that this freight haulage tread was recently verified by the SmartWay Transport programme in the USA. To date the Latin American market leader is the only retreading products manufacturer in South America to achieve this validation.

Hercules launches H-704 truck tyre at SEMA

Hercules Tire launched the new Hercules H-704 closed shoulder deep drive truck tyre at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Designed to handle demanding long-haul applications, the H-704 offers a heavy-duty all-steel casing, a 30/32 inch tread and a solid shoulder to resist irregular wear.

‘SmartWay’ verification for Vipal tread

Brazil’s Vipal Rubber reports that its VL130 ECO pre-cured tread has become the company’s first product to be approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay Transport Partnership. As expected from a SmartWay approved tyre, the tread’s design and compound aims to maximise fuel efficiency; Vipal reports that the trailer axle tread has a low bearing resistance that generates less heat, thus ensuring less casing fatigue and helping to improve retreadability.

Marangoni outlines 2013 North America highlights

While the North American tyre market struggled to create demand for additional volume in 2013, Bill Sweatman, president of Marangoni Tread North America, announced the company managed to achieve a 70,000 unit sales increase for the year. “Growing faster than the market is a key indicator that we continue to collectively provide our customers with best-in-class products, service, support and the best network of independent dealers in the industry,” he said.

Galgo Pre-Q gets SmartWay approval on second precure design

Galgo Pre-Q’s DP tread for use on Long-haul class-8 drive axle has been awarded SmartWay approval, the second time a Galgo tread has been accredited in his way. According to a company statement, this means the product meets the requirements of the SmartWay Technology programme that verifies low rolling resistance retreaded tyres which help reduce truck fuel consumption by at least 3%, according to the EPA. This programme is compliant with California Air Resources Board (CARB) as well.

Drive tyre added to Ecopia line-up

Bridgestone Americas has launched a new premium drive radial in North America, the M760 Ecopia. The tyre is primarily designed for use in on-highway, long-haul and regional service. It also can be applied for pick-up and delivery service. According to Bridgestone, the M760 Ecopia works well on single and tandem axle trucks, making the tyre ideal for a broad range of fleet applications.

Bridgestone to offer SmartWay verified retreads

News

In the US, Bridgestone recently submitted four Bandag retread products to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for SmartWay verification. Upon approval, Bridgestone will offer a total of seven SmartWay verified retreads following a number earlier approvals. Three Bandag retread products – the B710 FuelTech, B197 FuelTech, and B135 FuelTech – are already on the agency’s list of low rolling resistance retreads.

SmartWay approval for Ringtread pair

Two Marangoni Ringtread Energeco products, the drive tyre RDA-E and trailer tyre RTA-E, have been approved by the SmartWay programme in the US. Tire Review reports that this month’s verification of the RDA-E, with a tread depth of 19.84mm (25/32-inch), follows the November 2012 approval of the RTA-E, with a tread depth of 9.53mm (12/32-inch).

Linglong TBR tyres gain SmartWay verification

Shandong Linglong’s truck and bus radial tyres have gained EPA SmartWay verification for 18 of its Linglong and Leao brand truck tyres in the USA for low rolling resistance. The verified tyres include steer, drive and trailer axle applications.

SmartWay verification for two Bandag products

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has added to Bandag retread products, the B710 FuelTech and B197 FuelTech, to its list of SmartWay verified low rolling resistance tyres. Announcing the additions, Bert Jones, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions manager, Product Marketing, TBR, commented: “We are constantly striving to develop eco-friendly products and processes while meeting the fuel saving needs of our customers.”

Yokohama Tire launches trucking iPad application

Yokohama Tire Corporation (YTC) has launched an iPad app for the trucking tyre industry: The Yokohama Commercial Tire Navigator, which is available for free on iTunes. The commercial version of the app is based on YTC’s 2011 Yokohama Tire Explorer, featuring product information in an interactive format, 360-degree tyre photography, Yokohama’s proprietary Fuel Savings Calculator and a dealer locator. The product line-up consists of a variety of Yokohama’s commercial tires, including the Zenvironment line and the company’s seven EPA SmartWay-verified tyres.

Wabash approves Cooper Roadmaster tyres as OE fitment

North American semi trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corporation has approved Cooper Tire & Rubber’s Mastercraft-brand Roadmaster RM871(EM) as an original equipment option on all of its dry freight and refrigerated van models as well as on its Transcraft and Benson brand platform trailers.

With its latest steer axle radial, Michelin North America has laid out a challenge to all comers by guaranteeing 30 per cent greater removal mileage than any competitor. Michelin adds that the new Michelin XZA3+ Evertread steer tyre is also fuel efficient, as shown by its EPA SmartWay verification.
