Yokohama Debuts ‘Environmental’ Truck Tyre

Date: 1st February 2007 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

The Yokohama Tire Corporation is releasing a new tyre into its Z.environment range at February’s annual Technology & Maintenance Council meeting in the US. The new tyre, the 703ZL, is a truck tyre promoted by Yokohama as more environmentally friendly through being longer lasting and providing greater fuel-efficiency.

The company produces the Z.environment line of tyres as a range implementing high technology to minimise their environmental impact. “The Z.environment tyre line incorporates optimum tread designs, compounds and casing design to create a tyre that has longer first tread life, longer casing life and low rolling resistance,” said John Cooney, Yokohama’s director of commercial sales. “These features result in reduced material consumption, reduced pollution and contribute to the health of our environment.”

Cooney reports that the new extended mileage 703ZL features one inch tread, the deepest in the industry, and has the lowest rolling resistance in its category. The tyre’s outer rib is also covered with a greater amount of rubber, which means the 703ZL can handle more road miles. Other features include an optimised rubber compound for higher mileage and a new base compound that reduces heat build-up and improves tread wear.
