IAA launch for Bridgestone's Total Tyre Care

Date: 19th September 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

At its press conference during the IAA Commercial Vehicles show, Bridgestone Europe shared further details of its new Total Tyre Care programme, a range of complementary truck tyre programmes its says are designed to provide fleet customers with complete peace of mind.

The aim behind Total Tyre Care is to help customers keep tight control on tyre-related costs through maximising the life of their fleets’ tyres. The programme therefore aims to cover the fullest range of tyre management services and is available in two customisable contracts – the all-in fixed price/km Comfort4Fleet and the on-demand, itemized Flex4Fleet approach.

“Total Tyre Care is designed to let fleets concentrate on their core business and take the worry out of tyre management, knowing that Bridgestone is minimising their tyre costs” commented Harald Van Ooteghem, senior manager, Marketing Planning, Commercial Business Unit, Bridgestone Europe.

Announcing Total Tyre Care’s introduction, Yves Kerstens, managing director of Bridgestone Europe’s Commercial Business Unit, explained that it is built around three tyre management pillars: Total Tyre Life, Total Tyre Services and Total Tyre Systems.

Total Tyre Life aims to maximise tyre life, thereby reducing tyre cost/km over the entire lifecycle, through the supply of Bridgestone new tyres and Bandag retreads; Kerstens commented that Bandag pre-cure retreading technology can  provide a second life to a truck tyre at an average of 30 per cent lower cost than a new tyre.

Total Tyre Services is the package that keeps a fleet’s trucks on the road and running at maximum efficiency. The system includes everything a fleet needs, from fleet tyre inspections to professional technical advice on keeping tyres in top condition, maximising their total tyre life.

These tyre services are provided by Truck Point, Bridgestone’s pan-European truck tyre network, which now boasts over 2,400 professionals in 29 countries. Tyre-related breakdown assistance is assured by Service Europe, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and casing management is provided by the Bandag network.

Total Tyre Systems is the third pillar of the programme, designed to give fleet operators clear visibility of their tyres’ condition at all times. The services are backed by tracking and monitoring tools: Bridgestone’s T2i internet-based inspection tool that checks tyre pressure, condition and tread depth; and Bridgestone’s Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a sensor-operated system providing real-time pressure data for increased safety, lower fuel consumption and longer tyre life. Fleet operators are provided with tailor-made reporting, to help reduce costs and maximise fleet uptime.
