Wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and graders are typically used on major infrastructure projects that have tough cost and timescale targets. After researching operator requirements, Goodyear has introduced a new tyre for these vehicles, GP-3E. It says the increased the operational versatility of its latest tyre generation makes “tyre choice easy for the operator.”
Goodyear says it is “honoured to receive” a second Platinum certification in the Caterpillar Supplier Quality Excellence Process (SQEP). The tyre maker’s factory in Wittlich, Germany earned these back-to-back awards with the tyres it supplies for Caterpillar compact wheel loaders.
Machines used in off-highway applications have evolved over the years into heavier vehicles with increased capability and capacity, and tyre makers have needed to keep apace with this evolution. Goodyear has done so by upgrading some of its products for loaders to a 3* marking.
Goodyear will feature its flagship products and solutions for construction fleets at the 2019 Bauma exhibition in Munich (8-14 April 2019). These will include the recently-announced Goodyear Omnitrac mixed service tyre range, which makes its exhibition debut at the show. The manufacturer will also showcase its Goodyear Proactive Solutions TPMS Heavy Duty, EMTrack tyre management system and the TL-4A OTR tyre. The manufacturer will be on Stand 224 in Hall A6 at the Messe München.
In September, Goodyear Tire & Rubber introduced a 63-inch version of its RM-4B+ OTR tyre. Upon launching this 53/80R63 ultra-large haulage mining product, Eric Matson, Goodyear’s global field engineering manager (OTR), opined that the new size will become a “must-have for mining operations around the world.” This new 63-inch RM-4B+, along with five smaller siblings – three new releases and two already on the market in North America – are now available in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
A trio of RT-5D sizes enjoying their global debut at the Intermat construction industry show in Paris complete Goodyear’s wheel loader range and fill the remaining gaps in application suitability. A total of five sizes of this level 250 (L5) traction OTR tyre for severe conditions (such as quarries, difficult industrial applications and recycling, open and underground mines) are available following the addition of the new 20.5R25, 23.5R25 and 26.5R25 tyres.
