Goodyear Dunlop Tires Operations S.A. is investing more than two million euros in the replacement of the oil storage facility, or oil farm, and on other upgrades at its Colmar-Berg tyre factory in Luxembourg. Following two incidents leading to spills of low quantities of non-hazardous oil into the River Attert in April 2016, the company accelerated its investment programme and has carried out preventive measures.
Goodyear Dunlop has launched its new range of Dunlop brand on road commercial vehicle tyres. The truck tyres have been designed to provide increased mobility: mileage has been increased by ”up to 10 per cent”; winter performance has been enhanced, with the steer and drive fitments receiving Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification; and fuel efficiency has also been improved, according to Laurent Colantonio, Goodyear Dunlop director of commercial tyre technology in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
In mid-March, Heuver Tyrewholesale appointed Bert Vreys as its new account manager for Belgium and Luxembourg. During the course of 2015, Heuver decided that its agricultural sector, which is where the company’s roots lie, required greater focus. Heuver therefore reorganised its agricultural department and promoted Pieter Dubois from within the company.
Goodyear, together with the Luxembourg government and IEE, have announced plans to develop a new Automotive Campus dedicated to innovation. The Luxembourg Automotive Campus research and development area is intended to provide state of the art facilities to companies involved in technological innovation for the automotive sector. The tyre manufacturer also announced that part of its partnership with the Automotive Campus project means moving all its local non-manufacturing personnel onto the new site.
Fedil, the Luxembourg Business Federation, has presented Goodyear a 2015 Environmental Award for its work with rice husk ash silica. The ‘resource efficiency’ category award was presented by Fedil president Robert Dennewald and Camille Gira, Luxembourg’s state secretary for sustainable development and infrastructure. Romain Hansen, Goodyear’s global director of technology projects, accepted the award on behalf of the ‘Rice Husk Ash Silica’ development team.
Goodyear has been awarded the Luxembourg Green Product Award for the third time in the Luxembourg Green Business Awards’ five-year history. The award was handed over to Henk van Tuyl, technology directory for commercial tyres at Goodyear Europe, Middle East and Africa, during an event held in May as part of the Luxembourg Green Business Summit.
For the third time in five years, Goodyear’s Europe, Middle East and Africa business unit has been acknowledged by the Luxembourg Business Federation (FEDIL). The latest honour, this year’s innovation award, was given for the tyre maker’s IntelliMax Groove Technology for truck tyres, which was first introduced on the Fuelmax S steer axle tyre.
