Cross sectional: The evolving SUV tyre market
In recent years, the SUV tyre market has evolved significantly, reflecting growing consumer demand for versatility, performance, and sustainability across diverse driving conditions. Professionals in the automotive and tyre industries should note the surge in popularity of all-season and all-terrain tyres, such as the highly praised Michelin CrossClimate 2 (which was, of course, WhatTyre’s all-season SUV Tyre of the Year 2024) which feature enhanced tread designs and silica-rich compounds to deliver reliable year-round performance. Larger tyre sizes, like 19-inch variants, are also trending, offering improved handling and stability, while the rise of electric SUVs has fuelled demand for low-rolling-resistance tyres—often paired with noise-reducing technologies—to maximize battery range and enhance cabin comfort.
Sustainability is a critical focus, with some of the largest manufacturers like Michelin, Bridgestone and Continental introducing eco-friendly tyres made from recycled materials and bio-sourced rubber, aligning with global net-zero goals and reducing rolling resistance for better fuel economy. Additionally, smart tyre systems with integrated sensors for real-time pressure and wear monitoring are gaining traction, providing fleet managers and service providers actionable data to optimize safety and performance. Staying competitive in this dynamic market requires a keen understanding of these intersecting trends, which is way the April edition of Tyres & Accessories pays particular attention to the SUV tyre segment.

Autopromotec 2025 preview
Leading European automotive equipment and aftermarket product show, Autopromotec will return for its 30th edition in Bologna, Italy on 21-24 May. The biennial event reaches 60 years in business this year, and offers the continent’s best opportunity of the year for the tyre servicing industry to gather at a single event. At the last edition, more than 75,000 professional operators visited the 141,000 square metres of exhibition space, with 1,311 participating companies, including one of the larger halls devoted mainly to tyre and retread suppliers. Tyres & Accessories will preview the show in the April issue, offering both an opportunity to get the latest news about the 2025 edition of the show and a platform for participating companies to attract visitors to their booth.
