Isle of Man’s Auto Solutions Ltd has exhibited at the 114th Royal Agricultural Manx Show. The company is the island’s only distributor of General Tire and Falken Tyre, supplied exclusively by Micheldever Tyre Services, and the wholesaler took the show as an opportunity to show its commitment to support their customers in increasing their customer footfall through sales and marketing activity. A specialist team from MTS attended to assist with the Auto Solutions exhibition stand. The event, which gained royal patronage in 1951 attracted more than 20,000 visitors and hosted over 156 exhibitors over the two-day show.
Avon Motorcycle Tyres will return to the 2018 Classic TT, supplying tyres to some of the most prestigious race bikes at the event. With practice currently underway, John McGuinness has already made his much-anticipated return on Saturday evening in first practice for the Senior Classic TT Race. Using Avon AM22 race tyres, McGuinness set the fastest time of the event.
Avon Tyres is making another trip across the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man for the late-summer leg of its motorcycling celebrations – the Festival of Motorcycling. The tyre brand, which has a strong historical link with racing on the island, plays a major role in both parts of the festival – the Classic TT races and the Manx Grand Prix.
Dmack’s dominant one-two victory on Rally Isle of Man, the final round of the MSA British Rally Championship, gave the team a victory lap, having clinched the championship title on the previous event. Elfyn Evans and Craig Parry rounded off their season with their fifth victory from seven rallies, finishing only 5.9 seconds ahead of team-mates Mark Higgins and Darren Garrod. Both crews took wins on 16 of the event’s 20 special stages. The double podium ensured the BRC Teams’ Championship trophy for the Dmack team, while Dmack runners also won the overall, BRC1, BRC2 and Junior BRC classes. The Michelin shod team of Tom Cave and James Morgan, and Pirelli runners Jonathan Greer and Kirsty Riddick finished on the championship’s second and third podium steps respectively.
Ian Hutchinson won the Supersport and Superstock categories on Metzeler’s road legal Metzeler Racetec RR tyres, developed through past road racing seasons. The tyre manufacturer’s products were fitted to the whole podium in both races, but it was Hutchinson’s imperious form that led to victories on his Team Traction Control Came BPT Yamaha YZF-R6 in Supersport and Tyco BMW S1000RR in the Superstock class.
While Michael Dunlop was busy making history on Dunlop, the tyre brand also saw new records set on four wheels. Running on medium compound Sport Maxx BTCC race tyres, triple British Rally Champion Mark Higgins beat the previous record for a car around the Isle of Man TT Mountain course.
While Dunlop-shod riders will be bidding to break more records and win races across all two-wheeled classes at this year’s Isle of Man TT, the company’s bid for honours doesn’t end there. Dunlop has teamed up with another of the event partners, Subaru, to tackle the IOMTT Mountain course for a record-breaking attempt on four wheels.
