Continental reorganises replacement tyre businesses in EMEA

Continental has merged its passenger and truck tyres replacement businesses in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Philipp von Hirschheydt, former head of the passenger tyres replacement business in the EMEA region, leads the new business unit. This transformation started on 1 January, 2020, becoming effective on 1 July, 2020. Conti states that it has merged the businesses to “increase customer centricity while increasing the overall efficiency of the organisations.” In making this organisational change, Conti has shifted its structure to align with customer groups rather than product categories.

As part of previously-announced structural changes, Continental has merged several of its replacement truck tyre functions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The Conti360° Fleet Services business, which includes ContiPressureCheck and ContiConnect, has been brought together with the ContiLifeCycle business, comprising retreading and casing management services, to form the Fleet Solutions department. Ralf Benack is heading up this department as Director Fleet Solutions.

Continental introduces new drive axle winter tyre for coaches

A new Continental drive axle tyre developed specifically for fitment on coaches aims to provide passengers with enhanced safety during the winter months. The tyre maker claims its HDW2 Coach “outperforms M+S tyres and exceeds the performance requirements of the 3PMSF certification.”

Continental congratulates KAMAZ-Master on Dakar win

On Saturday, Eduard Nikolaev’s crew from the KAMAZ-Master team crossed the Dakar Rally 2018 finish line in Cordoba, Argentina to take first place in the event’s truck category. The crew finished nearly four hours ahead of the nearest competition, having completed the rally’s 14 stages in 54 hours, 57 minutes and 37 seconds. Although KAMAZ-Master failed to replicate the one-two finish it secured in the truck category last year, it ended proceedings in the 40th anniversary event with another win for Nikolaev and a third-place finish for Airat Mardeev and his Kamaz-Master crew.

Semperit celebrates 110th anniversary with completion of Runner CV tyre range

Semperit has marked its 110th anniversary by updating its truck tyre portfolio in a two-day event in Vienna. The Austrian tyre brand – a Continental brand since 1985 – presented its Runner F2 (steer), award-winning D2 (drive) and T2 (trailer) tyres as a “breakthrough into a new chapter of [Semperit’s] illustrious history,” according to Constantin Batsch, head of the truck tyres replacement EMEA business unit at Continental Reifen Deutschland.

The Conti Hybrid HT3 trailer tyre has landed a “Red Dot: Best of the Best” design award. The award, given in the product design category, pertains to the size 445/45 R 19.5 and 435/50 R 19.5 fitments; Continental says the Red Dot jury awarded the Conti Hybrid HT3 for its “incomparable design quality and groundbreaking construction.”

iF Design Award for Continental HT3 trailer tyre

The Continental HT3 trailer tyre, specifically the low profile size 445/45 R 19.5 fitment, has won the tyre maker an iF Design Award. The 58-person iF Design Award judging panel voted the tyre a winner in the ‘product’ award category; the award will be presented to Continental at a ceremony held in Munich, Germany on 26 February. A Conti Hybrid HT3 445/45 R 19.5 tyre is also on display at the iF Design exhibition in Hamburg, where the judges made their decision.
