Continental creates fleet departments with truck tyre unit appointments

Date: 9th July 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Continental will aim to support its fleet business with the creation of two new independent departments to oversee the areas of Fleet Support and Truck Tyre Marketing across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), focussing specifically on its Conti360° Fleet Services. The company has appointed Martin Burdorf to take charge of fleet management, while Barry Guildford will become the new marketing chief. Both will report directly to Herbert Mensching, director of Marketing and Sales Truck Tyres EMEA.

Martin Burdorf has been with Continental since 1991 and worked in the sales organisation as a fleet account manager, key account manager and regional sales manager before switching to Continental Industrial Tyres in 2003. Most recently he was responsible for global marketing in the division before taking over fleet management for truck tyres.

Barry Guildford, who has “many years of experience in marketing and sales” according to Conti, takes up the post of marketing manager. He began his career in 2001 with Continental in the UK where he held various management positions in brand management, marketing communications and eBusiness. More recently, he has focused on sales for both trade and fleet, across all industry sectors, before moving to Continental headquarters in Hanover as head of Marketing for truck tyres.

The new department structure sees Continental reinforce the offering to its fleet business, which is becoming increasingly important in the Truck Tyres division, Conti said.
