In April, Goodyear shared that the new Audi e-tron GT is available factory-fitted with a 21-inch version of its Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5. Hankook Tire reports it is also supplying original equipment tyres to Audi’s electric performance saloon; the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 ev will be fitted to the e-tron GT in size 225/55R19 XL 103Y on the front axle and 275/45R19 XL 108Y on the rear.
The performance stats of recently-launched electric cars highlight that the move to electrification not only eliminates emissions, but also raises the bar in regards to sheer acceleration and instant performance. Electric saloons from manufacturers such as Audi and Porsche can hit 60 mph faster than many traditional supercars. Goodyear says this brings exciting new challenges for tyre design and development.
Audi is once again turning to Goodyear to equip one of its flagship electric vehicles. Audi e-tron SUVs have been fitted with Goodyear tyres as original equipment since 2019, and now Audi is equipping its new generation gran turismo, the Audi e-tron GT, with 21-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tyres.
Pirelli’s new Ice Zero 2 studded winter tyre has been introduced in an exclusive preview on the roads of the World Skiing Championships at Are, Sweden, an event for which Pirelli is the main sponsor. Pirelli is also equipping the Audi e-tron cars used by the event organisers, and for featured “ice-driving experiences”, with Ice Zero FR and Ice Zero 2 rubber. The Ice Zero 2 is designed to meet the mobility needs of top of the range cars on Nordic and Russian roads. It will be launched officially on the icy roads of Pirelli’s proving ground at Flurheden in Swedish Lapland.
The Audi e-tron, launched today in San Francisco some three years after appearing as a concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show, features three electric motor that give it 800Nm of torque, the ability to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds and, driven carefully, a range of up to 310 miles. And this first fully-electric SUV from Audi comes with Goodyear tyres.
