Michelin launches bespoke European CrossClimate 2 all-season tyre

Company News, Product News
Michelin

In 2015, Michelin disrupted the all-season tyre market with the launch of the CrossClimate – a tyre that approached year-round performance from a different direction. Now, following the launch its successor (the CrossClimate 2) in the US at the end of 2020, the world’s largest tyremaker has released a new European market-orientated version which builds on the already impressive performance of the first generation and tunes the concept demonstrated by the US edition for the European market. For example, according to Michelin, the Cross Climate 2 “delivers a 10% reduction in rolling resistance when compared to its best-selling predecessor thanks to a Cool Running Sidewall designed to improve fuel efficiency or electric vehicle battery range…” amongst other enhancements.

Michelin CrossClimate2 launched in the USA, coming to Europe in 2021, but no UK date yet

International News, Product News
Michelin

Following reports at the end of July that Michelin was about to introduce a successor to its successful CrossClimate year-round tyre, the company has now officially launched the CrossClimate2 in North America. The CrossClimate2 will be available in 56 sizes, fitting 76 per cent of the best-selling passenger cars and crossovers in the US marketplace today. Currently, 25 sizes are available. In early 2021, an additional 31 sizes will be available. The tyre is expected to land in Europe during 2021. However, details of the tyre’s UK launch have not yet been released.

Michelin launching CrossClimate 2

International News, Product News
Michelin

Michelin introduced the first CrossClimate tyre in 2015 in a move that saw the manufacturer shift from its long-held position of being broadly opposed to all-season tyres on the basis that best seasonal performance is achieved by either summer or winter tyres. However, arguing that the CrossClimate is a summer tyre with year-round capabilities, Michelin pioneered a new category of tyre. The initial CrossClimate was followed by the CrossClimate + and the CrossClimate SUV variants 2017 and now there is the news that a completely revised version – the CrossClimate 2 – is on its way.
