Negotiations with Brazilian retread supplier Vipal Rubber about a potential majority takeover of the Italian Marangoni Group are at an “advanced stage”, according to local press. According to the Corriere del Trentino, the regional edition of the Corriere della Sera, unions are increasingly worried about the future of Rovereto.
Approximately 100 jobs will be cut at the Goodyear tyre factory in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg under plans to relocate production of low-volume tyre lines to other Goodyear plants in Europe that have the required capacity and resources for the job. It appears the tyre maker intends to complete this restructuring process within the coming 12 to 18 months.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has confirmed the ratification of its new four-year labour agreement by members of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 752L in Texarkana, Arkansas. The agreement covers more than 1,400 USW members.
A maximum of 125 jobs will be cut at Sensata’s factory in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland. Company representatives clarified their plans in response to earlier reports suggesting as many as 275 jobs were at risk. The latest information is that, while 275 employees have been told that their positions are “at risk”, the number of job losses will be capped at 125.
