Millimetre precision: Continental algorithm-based tread monitoring “a new benchmark”

A pilot project that Continental began with Share Now in late 2020 is progressing into a broader partnership that will see the car sharing firm’s Danish vehicle fleet fitted with Continental AllSeasonContact tyres and monitored under a Conti360° Solutions contract. The partnership includes new innovations, including algorithm-based, real-time tread depth monitoring.

Accuracy within 1mm: Continental pilots real-time tread depth monitoring

Continental has demonstrated real-time tyre tread depth monitoring during a pilot project with Danish carsharing provider Share Now and telemetry specialist Traffilog. The project confirmed Continental’s ability to predict tyre tread depth in real-time to an accuracy within one millimetre.

Goodwood debut for Continental Extreme E tyres

The two Continental tyre types specially developed for the Extreme E off-road racing series have made their global debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Designed for the world’s toughest driving conditions, the new summer and winter tyres were presented to the public along with the electric SUV on which they are to tackle some of the most extreme locations across the globe.

OE tyres: Continental to directly supply Japanese and Korean car makers from April

With the imminent demise of the 14-year old Yokohama Continental Tire joint venture withJapan’s Yokohama Rubber, German tyre maker Continental is gearing up to take over direct deliveries of its tyres to vehicle manufacturers in Japan and Korea. “From 1 April 2016, we will solely supply Japanese and Korean original equipment customers ourselves. This means we will directly offer our premium Continental tyres in Japan and Korea,” shares Tansu Isik, who heads Continental’s APAC region original equipment passenger car tyre business.
