The firm has invested in new head office premises and additional staff appointments in addition to the ongoing development of the Garage Management System. In the past 18 months, more garages have been using Techman’s software to enable increased digitalisation of their businesses, prompted by pandemic operating conditions.
TechMan has integrated the Euro Car Parts catalogue bringing time-saving benefits to its Garage Management System. TechMan users can now look up parts directly from within a job to view costs, RRP and stock availability at their local branch. Once added to a job card an electronic order is sent in real time, removing the need to order over the phone and minimising the risk of incorrectly ordered parts.
Workshop management specialist, TechMan has significantly reduced the amount of time it takes for garages to book a new job into the workshop thanks to a raft of intuitive features and innovative vehicle data integrations. The booking-in process, which would traditionally require a conversation with a technician to determine the amount of time required and a motor factor phone call to order the parts, can now be completed in less than a minute thanks to the TechMan Garage Management System.

Exclusively available to customers of LKQ Euro Car Parts, CarSys is a user-friendly software platform that allows garages to streamline the way they work – boosting productivity and efficiency in the workshop, while delivering a more professional customer experience. The system houses customer and vehicle databases, meaning technicians can easily look up MOT and service histories, as well as all the data needed for accurate quoting and invoicing.
ColourSpray Auto Services in Wirral has reported significant improvements in both its repair times and its overall efficiency across the business thanks to garage management specialist, TechMan. Having previously used an alternative provider, operations manager Dave Hall felt that the existing system had too many limitations for a one-stop garage such as ColourSpray Auto Services.
Colchester-based Shaikly Motor Company has used garage management specialist TechMan to improve efficiency as the business expands. Established in 1977, the family run business has grown to be the largest independent Bosch car service, MOT and repair centre in Colchester, employing 22 members of staff.
TechMan, the garage management specialist, now offers card services provider integration, linking PDQ card terminals with its software. After meeting with a national fast fit network, TechMan said it discovered significant sums of money were being written off by garages each year in miss-keyed or malicious transactions using PDQ terminals. In response, TechMan developed a solution it says is flexible enough to work for both single branch independents and national chains.
Two recent winners of prestigious industry awards have given credit to garage management system TechMan. Berkshire-based Shaun Miller went one better than his 2017 runner-up finish in winning Top Technician 2018, while Cedar Garage of Worthing was the inaugural winner of the Top Garage award. Manor Motor Company is reporting a significant spike in business since implementing the TechMan garage management system. The Birmingham-based independent, which was established in 2013, adopted TechMan at the end of January, after making the decision to upgrade from a paper diary booking system.

Leo Freebairn, TechMan’s national sales manager says whilst customers ‘often ask for this’ it is important garages realise this convenience can come at a cost to their business.

One garage piloting the system saw profits generated from invoiced web bookings reach £18,877 in the seven months to January 2018 – a run rate of over £30,000 per year.
