Various road and climatic conditions are encountered within the Continental Tire division’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business, and for this reason, it is introducing commercial trailer tyres that reflect regional requirements. The first of these is the Conti Hybrid HT3 WR.
Continental has made its versatile Hybrid HD3 commercial vehicle tyre available as a ContiRe hot retread in sizes 295/80R22.5, 315/70R22.5, and 315/80R22.5. The retread has the same rubber compounds as the new tyre in both the tread and the sidewall, and retains the new tyre’s low weight, optimised rolling resistance and high ride comfort.
Continental has introduced a further Conti Hybrid HT3 size, and the tyre maker says this 385/55 R22.5 fitment “completes” its Conti Hybrid range. The new size has been awarded a ‘B’ label rating for wet grip, and Continental reports that its use can reduce fuel consumption by six per cent. Like all Conti Hybrid tyres, the Conti Hybrid HT3 385/55 R 22.5 trailer tyre can also be retreaded, and newly-introduced regrooving indicators in the tread profile making it easier to perform regrooving properly.
The Conti Hybrid HT3 trailer tyre has landed a “Red Dot: Best of the Best” design award. The award, given in the product design category, pertains to the size 445/45 R 19.5 and 435/50 R 19.5 fitments; Continental says the Red Dot jury awarded the Conti Hybrid HT3 for its “incomparable design quality and groundbreaking construction.”
The Commercial Vehicle Show begins tomorrow, and Continental is displaying its new Conti Hybrid tyre line for the first time at the Birmingham show. The tyre maker says the Conti Hybrid is a range developed in response to the diversity of the regional transport segment; the tyres are intended to address the challenges faced in regional delivery by offering long tyre life and a high degree of fuel efficiency. The line-up will be available at the start of the second half of 2014 and in 17.5, 19.5, and 22.5-inch formats.
Following last year’s roll out of its third generation coach and bus tyre range, Continental will turn its attention to goods vehicles at the CV Show 2014. Conti plans to showcase the first two products from its goods vehicles range: the ContiEcoPlus and the Conti Hybrid. The manufacturer has begun a new naming system for its TBR tyres, with the nomenclature designed to describe more clearly the application the product is intended for.
