Marketing rights to the Interstate tyre brand have been acquired by TBC Corporation this month. This transaction follows the entry of Interstate Tire & Rubber into insolvency late last year. The US-based aftermarket tyre distributor has also appointed Theo de Vries, formerly director marketing and sales at Interstate Tires, its new international sales and marketing manager.
According to an official report on the insolvency of Interstate Tire & Rubber Company BV, the direct cause of the firm’s bankruptcy was the non-payment of invoices by a customer, an Austrian tyre wholesaler named in the document as Bruckmüller GmbH.
The second generation of Interstate Tire & Rubber’s truck tyre programme is now coming to market, with more than 32 sizes completing the product portfolio. An important new addition is the Interstate SR558, the second generation of on/off tyre for construction and severe-duty trucking applications, such as sand, coal or waste hauling and logging.
Interstate Tire & Rubber Co has introduced a new all-season line, the Interstate All Season GT. Production of the range, which includes 32 passenger car, SUV and light truck sizes, begins this month, and the Interstate All Season GT will be officially launched in May at the company’s Reifen show stand.
Interstate Tire & Rubber has expanded the Sierra truck and bus radial range in Europe with the launch of two further tread patterns, the Sierra SR526 and Sierra SR805. The TBR programme now contains nine different patterns and a total of more than 60 sizes.
