Contractors who operate tractors in regions where winters are harsh rely on tyres that provide grip in varying conditions, such as the Nokian Hakkapeliitta TRI. Nokian Heavy Tyres has expanded this range with the addition of two 65-series sizes, 540/65R28 and 650/65R38. A total of 29 dimensions are now available.
The realm of the Nokian Ground King is growing thanks to the addition of new sizes. By January 2021, Ground King will rule over 20 subjects, with dimensions available for most medium and high-power tractors.
The demands placed upon tractor tyres are evolving. In addition to field work, the volume of transport tasks and time spent on the road has increased significantly in recent years. This trend presents a challenge for tyre designers as field and road applications are very different by nature. Nokian Tyres approached this challenge with a new kind of hybrid pattern technology that aims to offer the best of both worlds, combining a field-ready lug pattern with a block pattern to improve on-road properties. But does it work in practice? The Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Engineering at Germany’s Kiel University put the Nokian Ground King tyre through its paces to find out.
A concept tyre displayed at Nokian Tyres’ stand at Agritechnica 2017 will return to this year’s show – in an evolved form – as a new range aimed at tractor and machine contractors who seek a product that offers a combination of “on-road endurance, traction and grip on a soft terrain and a high load-bearing capacity.”
Four new sizes have joined the Nokian Heavy Tyres’ CT trailer tyre line-up, complementing the 650/55R26.5 CT tyre introduced at the Agritechnica exhibition three years ago. The new sizes –560/60R22.5, 600/50R22.5, 600/55R26.5 and 600/60R30.5 – are available as of this month.
