4×4 series organisers Ultra4 Europe exhibited at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, allowing the Maxxis-sponsored championship to display its skills in one of the most famous time trials in motorsport. Team Gigglepin Racing driver Jerry Hunt explains: “Being invited to exhibit at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed was very special for us. For years we have dreamed of showing off our off-road vehicles at this prestigious event, so to be selected to display and drive them amongst some of the finest from around the world at this year’s Festival of Speed is something both I and the team are very proud of.”
Goodyear’s Wrangler DuraTrac tyre has been chosen as the best off-road tyre by readers of the specialised German magazine Off Road. It was the third successive year the tyre has won. The Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac won in the “Traction Tyres” category in which readers were invited to vote for one of 10 candidates. 30 per cent of the votes went to the Goodyear tyre, which was developed for use on tough terrain.
Another tyre test from Germany, this time an evaluation of SUV tyres by 4×4 magazine Off Road. The publication selected nine brands of size 255/55 R18 tyres and, using a Mercedes-Benz ML 250 as test vehicle, subjected them to the usual challenges. Nokian’s zLine SUV took the coveted first place on the winners’ podium ahead of the Continental SportContact 5 SUV and Dunlop SP QuatrroMaxx.
