Michelin Anakee Wild – for riders wishing to “fully exploit” their trail bike’s potential
The global rollout of Michelin’s Anakee Wild trail bike tyre gets under way this month, with four radial fitments – two front wheel and two rear – available in the initial range. While the launch portfolio includes sizes for the ‘flagship’ bike in this category, the BMW R 1200 GS, three additional sizes will join the line-up during the course of this year, extending coverage to most trail bikes on the market. According to information supplied by Michelin, the tyre trio arriving later in 2016 will be non-radial fitments.

Camso releases new wheel loader tyres
At the end of January, Camso added two new wheel loader tyre to its lineup: the Camso WHL 775 and the Camso WHL 773. According to the company, the Camso WHL 775 is designed to “excel in severe conditions”. Camso buys Southern Industrial Tyres
Camso, the industrial tyre and track specialist formerly known as Camoplast Solideal, bought Southern Industrial Tyres in January 2016. Interestingly for the UK industrial tyre sector, Camso executives described the move as “a strategic effort to strengthen [the firm’s] material handling tyre distribution and service business in the UK”. In its statement on the matter Camso said the acquisition enhances Camsos leadership position in the UK and continues the companys vision for “tyre service”. No details of financial terms have been disclosed.

Fire at Goodyear Dunlop’s UK headquarters site
Goodyear Dunlop’s UK headquarters at Tyre Fort in Birmingham have been damaged by fire. According to West Midlands Fire Service, a fire broke out at the Wingfoot Way site yesterday evening and spread through the building’s ventilation system. Crews were called to the scene just after 7pm. The Fire Service announced shortly before midnight that the fire had been extinguished.

iF Design Award for Continental HT3 trailer tyre
The Continental HT3 trailer tyre, specifically the low profile size 445/45 R 19.5 fitment, has won the tyre maker an iF Design Award. The 58-person iF Design Award judging panel voted the tyre a winner in the ‘product’ award category; the award will be presented to Continental at a ceremony held in Munich, Germany on 26 February. A Conti Hybrid HT3 445/45 R 19.5 tyre is also on display at the iF Design exhibition in Hamburg, where the judges made their decision.

Bridgestone Corporation has reported net sales of ¥3,790.2 billion (£23.3 billion) in the 2015 financial year, a 3.2 per cent increase on the previous year’s result. Boosted by price mix, foreign exchange gains and favourable prices for raw materials, operating income climbed 8.2 per cent to ¥517.2 billion (£3.2 billion), however net income decreased 5.4 per cent year-on-year to ¥284.2 billion (£1.7 billion).

BKT reports it will welcome visitors by means of a “strong and appealing advertising presence conveying BKT’s vision”. As in the last edition of Bauma in 2013, BKT will exclusively customize all rickshaws that are at the trade show visitors’ disposal for moving around in the large open-air exhibition area. And it will be difficult to miss BKT’s new giant tyre, Earthmax SR 45 Plus, with its height of 2.70 metres.
