
Dunlop to supply 27 cars across 4 Le Mans classes in 2016
Dunlop will supply tyres to 27 cars across all four Le Mans classes in 2016, more than any other year in the millennium. The supplier will transport more than 6,000 tyres using ten trucks; more than 80 personnel will provide fitting, engineering and support. Each class has different regulations and requirements and consequently different tyre specifications.

Pirelli ready for debut in Baku

Continental signs MoU for new headquarters site in Hannover
In recent months Continental AG has been evaluating potential sites for its new headquarters, and has examined plots in Hannover and the nearby town of Garbsen. The company now shares that it is favouring the location near the ‘Pferdeturm’ in Hannover as the site for its future headquarters. Continental says it has officially entered concrete, detailed negotiations to this end with the city of Hannover.

Aston Martin Racing ‘has Dunlop Motorsport’s full attention’ in GT class
Dunlop and Aston Martin Racing describe the test of the manufacturer’s GT tyres for the first time in November in Bahrain as “a key turning point for both parties.” Dunlop committed to a full GT class development programme and Aston Martin began a return to lifting trophies. Le Mans is of great importance to both companies who are proud of their respective success there: Dunlop has 34 overall victories, more than any other tyre manufacturer, and Aston Martin took GT class wins in 2007and 2008 and the GTE Am class win in 2014.

Semperit celebrates 110th anniversary with completion of Runner CV tyre range
Semperit has marked its 110th anniversary by updating its truck tyre portfolio in a two-day event in Vienna. The Austrian tyre brand – a Continental brand since 1985 – presented its Runner F2 (steer), award-winning D2 (drive) and T2 (trailer) tyres as a “breakthrough into a new chapter of [Semperit’s] illustrious history,” according to Constantin Batsch, head of the truck tyres replacement EMEA business unit at Continental Reifen Deutschland.

Pro-Align targets entry level alignment with Hunter PA200 launch
Garage equipment brand Hunter’s UK distributor has launched a new wheel aligner targeting workshops “starting out” in the provision of the service. Pro-Align says the new entry-level Hunter PA200 will allow more tyre shops to “enjoy the financial, efficiency and customer service benefits that result from ownership of a Hunter wheel alignment system.” The PA200 features a two-camera system and uses the same imaging technology found on the company’s popular, range-topping Elite TD system.

Weak rubber prices to remain in short term, says ANRPC
The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) reports that although the rubber yielding area in the countries it represents has considerably expanded this year (until the end of May 2016), this is unlikely to impact on rubber supplies as the average yield per hectare is declining. Furthermore, the ANRPC anticipates that demand for natural rubber will remain weak due to prevailing global economic uncertainties, including the threat of further US anti-dumping and countervailing duties, a measure likely to affect demand from China.
