Travis Perkins: only Pirelli tyres are robust enough
Say Pirelli and the first things you think of are high performance cars and stylish marketing. However, Pirelli’s truck tyre of the business has received renewed attention in recent years, especially in light of last year’s takeover of Pirelli by ChemChina. A key part of that acquisition was based on the belief that, while Pirelli is the undisputed technology leader of that relationship (especially in terms of car tyres), ChemChina’s group of companies is known to be at its strongest in the commercial vehicle or “industrial” side of things. 4 tyres and a bag of carrots please
In what is probably the most unorthodox tyre retail marketing campaign Tyres & Accessories has ever reported on, Tyre Warehouse in Timperley, Greater Manchester is offering a bag of carrots with every purchase. It is not clear if the deal is connected to a wider healthy eating narrative or whether it is particularly aimed at people called Peter or Bugs, but the banner makes it clear: “Free bag of carrots with every tyre” in a font bigger than the word tyre of the address of the depot.

Nokian Tyres has released its second quarter and first half 2016 figures, the numbers are also the first full quarter figures published since Nokian admitted it had been involved in tyre test irregularities in a series of press articles during the first quarter of the year.
