Yokohama previewing Chelsea FC tyre at Autosport International
Visitors to the Autosport International show today are being given the opportunity to see the Chelsea FC Edition tyre from Yokohama. The Japanese tyre maker’s UK distributor is previewing the special edition BluEarth-A AE50 tyre at its show stand prior to its UK market launch, which will take place in the coming weeks.

Figures from the Motor Cycle Industry Association show that UK registrations for 2015 were the highest for 33 years. “Consumer confidence and a stronger economy are just a few of the factors that contributed to boosted motorcycle registrations in 2015”, said Stephen Latham, head of the National Motorcycle Dealers Association (NMDA) which represents motorcycle retailers across the UK.

C&J Coach Tours has signed up to Michelin’s new online portal – Michelin MyAccount – and is using the service to reduce its annual tyre spend. The owner-operator coach tour and holiday company subscribed to the free resource on recommendation of its local ATS Euromaster branch in Colchester, which handles its tyre fitments and servicing. Since then the company has benefited from extra support from Michelin, including offers and additional services.

Nottingham Magistrates Court has passed no sentence on the imaginary twin brother of Paul Henry, a phantom figure named as the protagonist in a fly-tipping case. His very real sibling was not so fortunate, however – Paul Henry was convicted of dumping tyres by the roadside in Mapperley back in February 2015, and has been ordered to pay prosecution and clean-up costs, plus a victim surcharge, a sum totalling £770.

Revered triple World Champion Petter Solberg joins Hill at Autosport International and will be piloting his Citroen Xsara World Rally car around the confines of the 5000-seater Live Action Arena.

Allianz Global Assistance UK, the roadside assistance expert, says that 1 in 5 calls it receives during January relate to tyre issues and, as predictions of snow to fall across the UK in the coming week hit headlines, the company is urging drivers to ‘be prepared’ by fitting winter tyres. This, says Allianz, will not only reduce braking distances by as much as 50 per cent in snow and ice, but can enable a car to stop 11 metres earlier on icy roads when travelling at just 20mph, making a crucial difference to road safety at this time of year.
