
Leeds City Council test proves GT Radial Maxmiler Pro quality
Giti van tyre, the GT Radial Maxmiler Pro has shown good wear credentials after a performance review conducted for Leeds City Council. Four 225/65R16C tyres were fitted to a Renault Master mini-bus on February 16 2014, and during a December 2 2014 inspection, between which dates the vehicle had covered 29,456 miles, the tread depths were measured. The near side front read 5/5/6mm, while the off side front, near side rear and off side rear equalled 6/6/6mm.

Poor provision of careers advice hampers economic growth – IMI
The warning follows IMI sponsored research from the Industry Apprentice Council (IAC), which showed that 45 per cent of current industry apprentices had received poor or no advice and guidance on their career choice. Meanwhile, less than 10 per cent said a careers advisor or teacher had helped them find out about apprenticeships. There is currently no statutory requirement for young people to have access to face to face careers advice.

Figures released for February by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that the UK new car market has grown for a 36th consecutive month – a record growth period. The new car market grew 12.0 per cent in February with 76,958 cars registered and this marks the UK’s first three straight years of increases.

Both the truck and van sectors performed well; truck registrations continue to increase as demand sees steady return to form, up 31.7 per cent in February, while there was a sustained strong performance from the van market, which rose by 19.5 per cent in the month.

Pirelli announces first four GP F1 tyre nominations
Pirelli has announced the first set of tyre nominations for the 2015 Formula One season, as promised on Monday after the conclusion of pre-season testing. Using the P Zero White medium compound tyre at all of the first four grands prix, the exclusive F1 tyre supplier will also bring the P Zero Yellow soft tyre to Australia, China and Bahrain, and the P Zero Orange hard tyre to Malaysia’s abrasive Sepang circuit. The P Zero Red supersoft will have to wait until later in the season to be deployed – possibly at the road race GPs.

ATS Euromaster welcomed the launch of Michelin’s CrossClimate tyre range – calling the product a game-changer for UK fleets and coming that it is working to secure stocks across its centres for the official May 2015 launch. Pitched as the first summer car tyres to be certified for winter use, ATS Euromaster says the tyres will be “ideally suited to the UK fleet sector, where unexpected weather changes and occasional snowfall can cause havoc for company car drivers – resulting in costly business interruption, reduced mobility, plus an increased risk of accidents.”
