The US RepTrak rankings measure the public’s perception of companies based on seven dimensions: innovation, leadership, governance, citizenship, workplace, performance, and products/services. The 2015 list of America’s 100 most reputable companies is compiled annually by Reputation Institute.

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., established a Singapore subsidiary called Yokohama Rubber Singapore Pte. Ltd. in April. The new subsidiary, capitalized at US$20 million (all equity capital from Yokohama Rubber), is scheduled to begin full operations from mid-May.

Following their release in the UK and Thailand, Apollo Tyres’ home country of India has become the third market to receive the company’s dual Apollo and Manchester United-branded tyres. The tyres are available in a 15-inch rim size from Apollo’s existing Alnac 4G range, and sold through select Apollo outlets.

On 31 March, Ruud Spuijbroek stepped down as secretary general of Vaco, the organisation representing the tyre and wheel industry in the Netherlands. Spuijbroek had served as general secretary for close to 20 years, and although he no longer holds the top position at Vaco the 63 year old remains secretary general of European retreading association Bipaver. A successor to Spuijbroek was named at Vaco’s general assembly in December 2014, and on 1 April Tim van der Rijken took over as the association’s secretary general.

Following its European market introduction, the new Z tyre brand will be participating at the forthcoming Autopromotec in Bologna from 20-24 May in Hall 15 on stand 2. This means the Z brand is going to introduce new sizes, which bring the range to more than 50 high performance dimensions. In addition, the Bologna event will see the launch of a Z run-flat tyre programme, a move designed to help reinforce the brand’s premium credentials.

In its exhibition area - hall 22, stand A46 - the group will be presenting both its Ringtread system of retreading and its Marix direct retreads of truck and earthmover tyres. In addition, the Marangoni group’s fleet advantage division will also be exhibiting for the first time, presenting a series of fleet tyre management solutions.

Retreading has begun at the facility set up by Marangoni and Russia’s Tatneft Group in Nizhnekamsk, Tartarstan. Marangoni informed Tyres & Accessories that the first all-steel truck tyres were retreaded by KaMaRetread LLC – a joint venture between Marangoni and Tatneft subsidiary Trading House Kama LLC – in March. Marangoni provided technical assistance prior to the start of production.
