Nankang NS-2R to increase championship involvement in 2016

In Nankang’s 50 year history, the tyre manufacturer has gained many landmark technical achievements in high performance tyres; it became the first Taiwanese tyre company to produce W-rated tyres, and 22” and 24” sizes. While the company produces a wide range of sizes for small commuter cars, its eponymous UK distributor enjoys a strong motorsport focus, epitomised by the NS-2R road-legal track tyre.

Toyo supports TV’s Jonny Smith at Carfest

When Jonny Smith, presenter of the Fifth Gear television show, tweeted his urgent need for some road-legal rubber at Carfest, Toyo was happy to oblige. The manufacturer fitted its Proxes R888 to Smith’s electric drag racer – an unusual vehicle in which the TV personality hoped to impress the crowds at Chris Evans’ Carfest event, raising funds for charity in the process.

Toyo Tires has signalled its intentions to strengthen its position as a supplier of competition rubber with the news of its latest products in the UK. As new stocks of the firm’s road legal track day tyres arrive, the company has officially released its totally track-focused RS1 slick design onto UK market for the first time.

New Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 optional original equipment tyre on Audi R8

Michelin has specially developed a new variant of its Pilot Sport Cup 2 ultra-high performance tyre for the original equipment fitment on the new Audi R8. The tyre is an optional fitment to be specified by customers, which can be identified by the RO1 marking on its sidewall. Michelin describes meeting the requirements of Audi as a technological challenge; engineers sought to combine high levels of dry grip to improve lap times on the track, without any compromise in safety on wet roads. The tyre sizes are 245/30ZR20 (front) and 305/30ZR20 (rear).

Toyo retained as control tyre for 2015 Production GTi Championship

The BRSCC Teekay Couplings Production Mk2 GTi Championship will run on Toyo tyres again in its 2015 season. The Toyo R888 will be used as control tyre for all competitors in both the Mk2 and the new Mk5 GTi sister race package, which will run alongside the Mk2 series.

Toyo releases new R888R UHP road and track tyre in UK

Japanese tyre manufacturer Toyo Tires has announced the UK launch of its road-legal track tyre, the Proxes R888R. The tyre will be displayed at Autosport International, which begins tomorrow (8 January 2015). The tyre previously made its global debut at the Essen Motorshow in November.
