Falken all season tyre introduced amidst wet Nürburgring

News

Falken celebrated 30 years since its birth with what could be described as an eventful 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. The Falken Motorsports team held first position for a time following an overnight break in racing as a result of heavy rain. British driver Peter Dumbreck climbed from tenth to first during the first stint, using Falken’s wet weather tyres to excellent effect. However, two incidents, including one off that required a rescue vehicle, put paid to dreams of glory, with the team ending the 24 hours in a very creditable 20th.

Remy introduces new steering pumps, racks

Remy Automotive UK Ltd has introduced 25 new steering pumps and five new steering racks for popular vehicle applications to its range of parts, which now totals well over 2,000, covering more than 20,000 car applications. These are said to be the first of many new steering references which Remy plans to develop during the course of this year.

UK firm Sheaffer pens Ferrari partnership

UK prestige pen manufacturer Sheaffer has added the Ferrari name to a new line of products for the first time. The iconic Italian brand was unveiled on four new Sheaffer pen models, which all include the Scuderia Ferrari Shield. The new collection features: the Ferrari VFM, the Ferrari 100, 300 and 500, all with the Scuderia Ferrari name engraved on the band, along with the Sheaffer White Dot symbol of prestige.

CES releases Engine Management Guide

CES has published a new product guide to showcase its engine management components. The company says distributers need to stock a wider range of engine management parts as vehicle technology advances. CES says it has rapidly increased its range in recent years, stocking a wide range of sensors, turbos, fuel systems and diesel and petrol injectors.

Goodyear Dunlop to launch coach-specific tyres at IAA

Amongst the numerous new releases to be unveiled at next month’s IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hanover, Germany will be Goodyear Dunlop’s first dedicated coach tyres. The Goodyear Marathon Coach all-position tyre and Goodyear Ultra Grip Coach winter drive tyre will be on display between 20 and 27 September, and Goodyear Dunlop says it will reveal information at the show “underlining the outstanding wear characteristics and comfort features that coach fleet operators have reported during extended customer testing.”

Dunlop EconoDrive targets van operating costs

‘Ultra-fuel efficient’ Goodyear tyre coming soon

Goodyear has revealed that it is on the verge of introducing a new tyre technology "that will help car makers reach new levels of fuel efficiency and CO2 reductions in Europe. No details have been made available about the new technology, which was developed by the Goodyear Innovation Centre in Luxembourg and which is set to be revealed in the second half of this year.

Dunlop demos sport-derived tyres at Rockingham

Dunlop held a showcase of its latest passenger car and motorcycle products, the Sport Maxx RT and the Dunlop RoadSmart II, at the Rockingham Circuit on Tuesday 17 April. 21 sports cars and 32 high performance motorcycles were gathered to demonstrate the tyres a series of workshops and hands-on demonstrations to key customers at the Northampton Circuit.

Infinity to hold European tyre launch at Reifen 2012

Infinity has announced that it will hold the European launch of its new tyre range at Reifen 2012. The tyres will be unveiled to a select international audience of dealers and journalists in May during Infinity’s Partners Day celebrations, taking place in Beijing, China, before Infinity takes its new tyres – details of which have yet to be revealed – at Europe’s largest tyre expo, held at Messe Essen in early June.

Bilstein launches Jaguar air suspension modules

German suspension manufacturer, Bilstein has announced that it will make its OEM-quality air suspension modules available to the independent aftermarket with immediate effect. The latest application, the B4 air suspension module, is a direct replacement for all C350 models of the Jaguar XJ. Hankook launches Vantra LT

Hankook Tire’s light commercial vehicle line-up has been expanded with the introduction of a new all-season light truck tyre, the Vantra LT. The company says it developed the range to deal with the high demands placed on passenger and goods transport vehicles in regional traffic; it adds that durability, fuel efficiency and mileage played a key role during development, as did safety-related driving characteristics such as short breaking distances and superior wet performance. The new Vantra LT is available in 34 dimensions, covering 14 to 16-inch rim diameters in series 82 to 60 and tread width from 165 to 235. All tyres in the Vantra range bear the M+S marking.
