Falken: ADAC tyre abrasion test shows durability development

ADAC’s tyre abrasion test, which examined the tyre abrasion particles produced by three summer and three winter tyres from 15 tyre manufacturers, gave Falken’s Azenis FK510 top marks in its 225/40 R18 test, helping the Sumitomo Rubber Industries global brand to fourth place overall. The test examined the tyre abrasion particles produced by three summer and three winter tyres from 15 tyre manufacturers. Andreas Giese, senior manager corporate planning/product planning, said that the result evinced Falken’s recent development work.

The Falken Azenis FK510 ultra high-performance tyre’s victory in the ADAC 2021 summer tyre test follows a “highly recommended” rating from both the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) and the Austrian Automobile Touring Club (ÖAMTC) in their 2021 summer tyre tests. The tyre achieved the result in the 225/50 R17 17 Y tyre dimension. This size is suitable for numerous medium-sized vehicles such as the Audi A4 or the Volkswagen Passat. The result marks the second win for a Falken pattern in an ADAC summer tyre test.

Falken will expand its car and SUV tyre lines with a wide range of new fitment options this spring. The Sumitomo Rubber Industries brand will offer 10 new sizes of its Azenis FK510 ultra-high performance tyre, 22 new XL sizes of its Euroall Season AS210 all-season tyre, and 17 new all-terrain tyre sizes in its Wildpeak range.

The new SUV-look Audi A1 citycarver has been available since autumn 2019, and Falken Tyres Europe says it is supplying original equipment tyres for the model. The A1 citycarver wears the Falken Azenis FK510 in size 205/55R17.

Falken has won original equipment approval from Porsche, demonstrating the increasing premiumisation of the Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ brand. Falken is supplying the current generation of the Porsche Macan with the SUV version of the Falken Azenis FK510 in sizes 235/60R18 and 255/55R18. The tyres are rated W for speed (up to 270 km/h) and have load indexes of 103 and 105 respectively.

Falken Tyre will launch three new tyre models for three distinct applications from its stand (Hall 7, Area A) at The Tire Cologne (29 May – 1 June). The new tyres are the Euroall Season AS210 car tyre, the Euroall Season VAN11 for light trucks and vans, and the Wildpeak M/T01 4×4 tyre for off-road use.

Falken tyre compound technology wins Tire Technology of the Year Award

Sumitomo Rubber Industries’ global brand Falken has won the Tire Technology of the Year Award at the annual awards for innovation and excellence. An independent panel of 27 international tyre industry experts presented the brand’s Advanced 4D Nano Design technology, the latest development of the pioneering work debuted by SRI in 2014, with the accolade on 15 February 2017 at the Tire Technology Expo in Hannover, Germany.
