The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) confirms that following his departure from Goodyear, Chris Delaney is no longer serving as President of ETRMA. The association says it is currently in the process of looking for a suitable replacement but has yet to reach a decision.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company confirms that as of 14 April 2025, Christopher R. Delaney is no longer employed with the company. The former, Brussels-based President of Goodyear’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business had already begun a leave of absence ten days prior to this, with Christina Zamarro named as his interim successor.

A report prepared for the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) shows the extent of the European tyre industry’s contribution to the regional economy last year. This analysis by Oxford Economics shows that in 2023, the tyre manufacturing sector supported an estimated total contribution to the European Union’s GDP of around €44 billion and sustained almost 500,000 jobs across the region.
The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) has released its Manifesto for the legislative period of 2024-2029, titled “#TRACTION4CHANGE: A shared agenda for a competitive, secure, and inclusive Europe.” This manifesto advocates for strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering the industrial competitiveness of the sector while emphasising its crucial role in advancing zero-emission mobility, circularity, and sustainability.
On 9 November, ETRMA Members elected Chris Delaney of Goodyear as president of the association for a two-year term of office starting on 1 January 2024. Chris Delaney is president EMEA of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and currently serves on the board of ETRMA. Dr Ralf Holschumacher of the German Rubber Industry Association (WDK) was elected vice president at the meeting.
Goodyear tyre factories in France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Turkey will soon adopt 100 per cent renewable energy in the first step of a multiple-phase plan to solely procure renewable energy in all Goodyear facilities across Europe, Middle East and Africa by the end of 2022. The tyre maker will review other locations, such as Goodyear in South Africa and Cooper Tire plants in Serbia and UK, in a second phase.
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has named Chris Delaney as president of Goodyear’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) business unit. He has been president of the company’s Asia Pacific business since joining the company in 2015.
After four years at the helm of Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s Asia Pacific business unit, Daniel L. Smytka has been earmarked for another leadership role within the company. He will be succeeded as president of the Asia Pacific region business by Chris Delaney, who joins Goodyear today. Delaney will assume full responsibility for the business on 1 January 2016; Smytka will work closely with Delaney on the transition before moving to his new position, in which he will report directly to Goodyear chairman and chief executive officer Richard J. Kramer.
