Goodyear Dunlop Tires Europe has appointed of Xavier Fraipont to the position of managing director, motorsport and motorcycle EMEA. Fraipont, formerly director, consumer tyre technology EMEA, replaces Sanjay Khanna, who has been appointed consumer sales and marketing director for emerging markets.

Carlisle introduces new Trail Pro ATV/UTV tyre
The Carlstar Group has introduced the new Carlisle Trail Pro tyre for ATVs, UTVs and Side by Sides. The manufacturer says the Trail Pro provides a smooth ride even on mixed terrain. It features a non-directional, self-cleaning tread pattern for forward and lateral traction as well as improved braking, tread wear and cut resistance. The scalloped shoulder provides additional puncture protection and prevents mud from packing.

Continental’s acquisition of A-Z Formen- und Maschinenbau GmbH last year brought one of the world’s most skilled tyre mould manufacturers in-house. Now the German tyre maker has announced its intention to expand capacity for extremely detailed tread designs at the A-Z factory in Runding, Bavaria this year through the construction of a new foundry. This project will be funded by a €6 million investment in A-Z Formen- und Maschinenbau. Continental says the investment will better prepare it for the increasingly complex nature of tyre moulds and their production, and will lead to 20 new jobs being created at Runding site.

Vipal Erope reports that its VRT3 tread has demonstrated 8 per cent better mileage when tested against similar competitor treads. To make its point, Vipal used the streets of Puglianello, Italy to host a battery of tests in what the company describes as the first performance comparison in Europe. Such a claim must refer to the comparative testing of pre-cure retread material brands, as there have been numerous comparison tests between new tyres.
