Nokian Tyres shares TÜV SÜD test results for summer, all-season tyres

Nokian Tyres reports that its latest generation summer and all-season tyres for European markets have passed comparison testing conducted by TÜV SÜD. The tyre maker commissioned TÜV SÜD to carry out independent tests on three key models: Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 1 for all-season use, and the summer variants Nokian Tyres Powerproof 1 and Nokian Tyres Wetproof 1. Each tyre underwent comprehensive assessments against four competitor tyre brands at TÜV SÜD Automotive’s independent wheel and tyre technology centre in Europe.

Seasonproof 1

The all-season Nokian Tyres Seasonproof 1 aims to provide versatile and high-performance capabilities, with purported enhancements in safety, wet grip, and rolling resistance across various weather conditions. Internal tests indicate notable improvements in wear resistance compared to previous models. TÜV SÜD results for Seasonproof 1 confirm “outstanding performance,” says Nokian Tyres, exceeding competitor models in overall performance and showcasing strengths in longitudinal and lateral aquaplaning. Notably, the results demonstrate competitive performance in snow braking and handling categories.

Powerproof 1

Nokian Tyres Powerproof 1, designed for summer driving, promises stability, handling precision, and grip on wet and dry surfaces. Engineered for motorway conditions, it reportedly offers responsive performance even at high speeds, with short braking distances and effective resistance to aquaplaning. TÜV SÜD tests for Powerproof 1 suggest commendable wet driving characteristics, with notable performance in both longitudinal and lateral aquaplaning, as well as wet braking. The Nokian tyre also demonstrates adequate dry braking capabilities compared to competitor models.

Wetproof 1

For rainy conditions and challenging roads, Nokian Tyres Wetproof 1 aims to offer “maximum safety and a comfortable driving experience.” Nokian Tyres considers this tyre “ideal for rainy days and demanding road conditions.” With claimed superior wet grip and driving dynamics, as well as low rolling resistance, Wetproof 1 aims to ensure secure handling on wet surfaces. TÜV SÜD findings for Wetproof 1 suggest competitive wet braking and handling performance, showcasing notable results in aquaplaning scenarios. It purportedly offers satisfactory safety levels in both longitudinal and lateral aquaplaning tests.

Convincing results

Nokian Tyres emphasises that TÜV SÜD purchased all test tyres “on the regular market” and selected tyres for each individual test randomly.
