Further Prinx Chengshan tyres gain TÜV SÜD certification

During a ceremony held in China on 6 March, TÜV SÜD Group acknowledged Prinx Chengshan with certification that will “serve as a milestone” to “accelerate” the tyre maker’s entry into the European market. The certification agency awarded Prinx Chengshan the VECTO-based (EU) 2017/2400 carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption certification for three commercial vehicle tyre models sold in Europe under the Fortune and Austone brand names – AR 603, TH 135 and TH 155.

Within the framework of the EU’s commitment to combat climate change and achieve carbon neutrality, reducing carbon emissions from heavy-duty vehicles has emerged as a focus area for the transportation sector. In 2017, the European Union introduced (EU) 2017/2400, which concentrates on regulating fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions from heavy-duty commercial vehicles and their components. This legislation mandates companies to utilise the official VECTO energy consumption simulation tool for comprehensive monitoring and assessment of carbon dioxide emissions and fuel consumption. It thus presents a significant challenge for Chinese enterprises intending to export heavy-duty commercial vehicles and components to the EU, as they must meet stringent requirements that overwise serve as trade barriers.

Aligned green mobility goals

Commenting on these EU regulations during the certification ceremony, a Prinx Chengshan representative noted that the green mobility goals linked to VECTO align with the tyre maker’s own aims. “As early as 2021, we passed the (China’s) Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s five series of green product certification, taking the lead in greening 80 per cent of our products, and we have been focusing on green and energy-saving product development for many years. In the long run, both users and society will benefit from this.”

Five Prinx Chengshan tyre models have now gained TÜV SÜD certification: The Winter Excelia, AR 603, DR 606, TH 135, and TH 155.
