Hankook Tire has marketed its Alphatread range of mould cure or ‘hot’ retreaded tyres for almost a decade now, and today satisfies demand for these products from plants in the UK, Spain, Italy, France and Germany. The last of these is the former Reifen Müller facility in Hammelburg, some 60 miles east of Frankfurt am Main. Hankook recently expanded its Alphatread operation at this site by setting up a separate mould cure retreading operation, significantly increasing capacity.
Following a restructuring of Hankook Tire’s truck tyre business in German-speaking markets, Manfred Zoni has taken over as sales director for the ‘DACH’ markets of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Zoni’s appointment took effect 16 September, and in his new role he reports directly to Dietmar Olbrich, the tyre maker’s vice-president for sales and marketing in the DACH region. He succeeds Friedel Loke, who recently retired after holding the position of northern region sales director at Hankook Reifen Deutschland GmbH for more than 18 years.
This year Pirelli initiated a mould cure retreading pilot project under the “Novatread” brand name. According to the Italian firm, in the long-term this product will be introduced throughout Europe and together with its new tyres will represent a full-portfolio, single-source solution. In an interview with Tyres & Accessories, Manfred Zoni, Central Europe sales and marketing director for Pirelli’s truck business, expounded on the strategic approach Pirelli is pursuing with its mould cure retreading and how this product offer fits together with its decentralised Novateck pre-cure retreading, which is carried out by certified partners.
