Stars aplenty: Michelin unveils Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2020
The Michelin Great Britain & Ireland Stars for 2020 was unveiled yesterday at a special launch event at The Hurlingham Club in Fulham, London. One hundred and eighty-seven Michelin-Starred Restaurants are featured for 2020, including one new Three Star, four new Two Stars and 23 new One Stars.

Hella AGM approves dividend, elects Shareholder Committee and Supervisory Board
At the annual general meeting of Hella GmbH & Co. KGaA at the companys headquarters in Lippstadt, Germany, shareholders approved all proposals submitted. Around 600 shareholders and guests attended the fifth annual general meeting since flotation on the stock exchange and at the time of the vote, approximately 86 percent of the voting share capital was represented.
Trico makes it a hat-trick of A1 Motor Stores awards
Trico is delighted to announce that its Exact Fit wiper blade range scooped the A1 Retail Product of the Year award, revealed at the buying group’s convention and awards dinner ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle Stephenson Quarter.
It is the third year in-a-row where the original equipment manufacturer and supplier has been honoured, winning Retail Product of the Year and Retail Supplier of the Year in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
A new generation of Dunlop enduro tyre has arrived. Dunlop says its Geomax Enduro EN91 builds on the knowledge the tyre maker has gained at world championship level to deliver “incredibly versatile performance for a wide range of off-road riders.” The EN91 replaces the Geomax Enduro D909.
Bridgestone looking to increase capacity in South Africa
Bridgestone is considering increasing production capacity at its tyre factories in South Africa in order to gain market share in the country’s minibus taxi segment. It appears to be looking at investing around ZAR 300 million (£16.1 million) in its plants, a capex additional to the ZAR 400 million investment it is currently completing at the company’s main production site in Brits.
Titan International, Inc. has reduced its shareholding in steel wheel manufacturer Wheels India Limited. It sold, via a wholly-owned subsidiary, a 10.4 per cent stake in Wheels India on 3 October, thereby dropping its share in the company from 34.2 to 23.8 per cent. Titan International intends to use the net proceeds of approximately US$19 million received from the transaction to pay down outstanding indebtedness.
Hankook Tire reports that it has been supplying the Porsche Cayenne ex-works with its flagship UHP tyre, the Ventus S1 evo 3 SUV, since June. The mixed fitment sees the Cayenne wear the Ventus S1 evo 3 SUV in size 285/40 ZR 21 (109Y) XL at the front and 315/35 ZR 21 (111Y) XL at the rear.
Fil Filter Europe is the latest automotive component supplier to join the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF).

Used car conversion rates set to strengthen in October according to NAMA members
“All respondents to this month’s NAMA survey are expecting conversion rates to increase or remain stable in October. Conversion rates improved during September as a factor of shortening vehicle supply, at a time when dealer and car dealerships were looking for stock for their forecourts,” said Louise Wallis, Head of the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA), commenting on the latest figures from NAMA’s market attitude survey.
WLTP and economic uncertainty depress LCV market in September
“Registrations of light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes fell by -23.5 per cent in September, as a result of the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) for vans and continued economic uncertainty”, said Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association which represents franchised commercial vehicle and car retailers across the UK, commenting on the SMMT’s light commercial vehicle registration figures.
Tyrata: IntelliTread works in aircraft tyre lab tests
Tyre sensor developer Tyrata reports that it has demonstrated that its patented IntelliTread Internal Tread Sensor (ITS) measures aircraft tyre tread depth in a laboratory setting. Next, Tyrata plans to carry out additional durability and in-tyre sensor field tests.
Yokohama Rubber appoints two new associate officers
On 30 September Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., named two new associate officers. Tomoyuki Okuno becomes Associate Officer, Assistant to Head of Tire Production Div. Meanwhile, Anil Gupta becomes Associate Officer, COO of ATC Tires Private Limited, Vice Chairman of Yokohama India Private Limited. He was formerly COO of ATC Tires Private Limited.
