
Yokohama OE on Mercedes-Benz GLC
Daimler AG has chosen the Yokohama Advan Sport V105 as an original equipment tyre on the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Models fitted with 18 and 19-inch wheels will be able to roll out of the factory on the Yokohama tyre, as two sizes – 235/60R18 103V and 235/55R19 101V – have been homologated. As is the case with all Yokohama tyres mounted as OE on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the presence of the letters ‘MO’ on the Advan Sport V105’s sidewall indicate Daimler’s official approval of the tyre.

CITExpo opens at Everbright for final time, previews move to modern facility
The 2015 edition of the China International Tire Expo opened Wednesday in Shanghai, with around 350 exhibitors – the show’s most ever. The sustained growth represented by these numbers has led to the decision by organiser Reliable International Exhibition Services to transfer CITExpo to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center (SWEECC), built in the centre of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo site. The show also boasts strong continuity, with around 80 per cent of 2014 exhibitors back in 2015, according to Reliable; in past years the organiser has come to expect a similar proportion of its customers booking their space for the following year during CITExpo.

Southampton City Council saves 10% Michelin tyres
Officials at Southampton City Council have reportedly shaved more than 10 per cent off the annual tyre bill for their 460-strong fleet after a move to fitting premium Michelin tyres has extended replacement intervals. The decision to fit Michelin began in April 2013 and saw an immediate tyre spend reduction of 11 per cent for the year 2013-2014, versus the previous policy, which had seen a mixture of different brands fitted. In the following year, 2014-2015, Southampton City Council’s tyre spend dropped by nearly three per cent more, as greater numbers of Michelin tyres were rolled out.

GT Radial release new long-haul trailer tyre
GT Radial has added the GTL919, a new trailer pattern available in 19.5 and 22.5-inch sizes, to its truck tyre portfolio. According to the company, the tyre has been developed for “maximum return-on-investment ownership, with a dedicated compound formula, extra deep optimised tread and wide shoulder ribs ensuring regular wear as well as reducing fuel consumption and increase mileage potential.” Additional upper sidewall protection provides enhanced resistance to cuts and tearing, especially from curbing damage.
