The need to raise awareness

Anyone who doubts the need for a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of worn or badly-maintained tyres should consider the following statistics, released by TyreSafe and sourced from Department for Transport ‘Reported Road Casualties in Great Britain’.

Between 2009 & 2013, faulty and worn tyres were the cause of 36 per cent of all vehicle defect-related ‘killed or seriously injured’ casualties on Britain’s roads. This was the largest single factor, ahead even of brakes (31 per cent) and 981 people were killed or seriously injured due to faulty tyres.
