Bandvulc gives Kerr’s Northern Ireland exclusivity
Bandvulc has awarded Kerr’s Tyres & Auto exclusivity for its product range in Northern Ireland. This follows on from Kerr’s appointment at the beginning of 2017 as the sole supplier of Uniroyal TBR (truck tyres) for this region.

In response to recently reported news about plans for its factory in the USA, Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) states that the plant in Buffalo, New York will deliver original equipment Dunlop tyres to Japanese car manufacturers in the future. A representative of SRI stressed to Tyrepress.com that it is the make to order tyre production commissioned by Goodyear that will reduce and then stop entirely in 2018.

The 4th FTire User Meeting is set to take place 11-12 September at fka in Aachen, Germany. According to the organisers it is “the ideal platform for all users and developers to get together and discuss their experiences related to all kinds of FTire applications in the CAE process chain, the implementation in HiL test rigs as well as latest findings from automotive research projects or FTire interfacing with third party simulation environments.”

During his speech at JK Tyre & Industries Ltd’s annual general meeting on 4 August, Dr Raghupati Singhania declared it is “high time” India’s government undertook such a step.

Safe-Run has announced that it has made “significant progress” in the patent invalidation and patent litigation process against VMI Holland B.V. Safe-Run explained that the Patent Reexamination Board of State Intellectual Property Office declared that the VMI’s invention patent “Assembly for and Method of Making a Tyre Component” is “entirely invalid”. According to the company, the patent declared invalid is deemed to have “not existed from the very beginning”. In addition, the court has dismissed VMIs litigation action against Safe-Run for this patent infringement. For its part, VMI stated that it made progress in the same series of cases and that it would appeal a number of adverse verdicts.

Qingdao Sentury Tire reports that its aviation tyres have gained MDA (Modification Design Approval) certification by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) following take-off and landing tests conducted using a Boeing 737 at Yantai Laishan Airport in Shandong Province late last year. This MDA certification, the first given to a privately-owned tyre manufacturer in China, approves Sentury aviation tyres for sale and use within the country.
