Goodyear Blimp bound for England

A Zeppelin is heading London way, but this isn’t the cause for concern it once was – the Zeppelin NT semi-rigid airship will peacefully float over the capital on 29 and 30 June resplendent in its Goodyear livery as part of a tour of Blighty that will also take in towns in Kent such as Dover, Maidstone and Dartford.

The Goodyear Blimp is flying to the UK to provide motorsport fans with aerial coverage of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) round at Brands Hatch this weekend. Goodyear became BTCC official tyre partner in 2020.

On its way to the UK, the Blimp will fly over a number of towns and cities in Germany, Belgium and France, including Bonn, Aachen, Waterloo, Kortrijk and Calais, where the airship will be based for the following days. This northern European flight begins today.

Iconic brand ambassador

The Goodyear-branded Zeppelin NT is the largest of its kind in the world. Seen in the skies since the 1910s, the tyre manufacturer’s brand ambassador not only provides once-in-a-lifetime experiences but is also used for the coverage of major events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Goodyear Blimp back to the skies over the UK,” says Malachy Tuohy, Goodyear’s head of communications, Consumer Europe. “This iconic airship that many people love will allow them to see the BTCC race from a different perspective and also bring fans closer to the Goodyear brand.”
