Auto Bild: Bridgestone & Vredestein the “best tyres for the cold season”

Auto Bild named Bridgestone its best winter tyre brand for the cold season, and Vredestein its best all-season brand

In the spring, Auto Bild looked at the wet and dry braking results from five of its latest summer and all-season tyre tests. Tyre brands that had participated in at least three tests received an average percentage value for all braking tests results, and based on these values the motoring magazine named Michelin its ‘Manufacturer of the Year’. With winter now approaching, Auto Bild has reached for its pocket calculator again to work out which products are “the best tyres for the cold season”.

Auto Bild has again examined five comparative evaluations. These winter and all-season tyre tests were published Auto Bild (issues 39/2019 & 40/2019), Auto Bild Allrad (issues 5/2019 and 11/2019) and Auto Bild Sportscars (issue 11/2019). The publication then calculated an average percentage value for all individual dry, wet and snow braking test results, with 100 per cent representing the average of all measurements.

Bridgestone topped the winter tyre table with 105.2 per cent, followed by Goodyear (104.7 per cent) and Michelin (104.2 per cent). Vredestein achieved the best all-season tyre braking result with 105.9 per cent, ahead of Goodyear (104.9 per cent) and Continental (104.7 per cent).
