NTDA calls for old tyres for local charity projects

The NTDA is looking for companies to donate end of life tractor and truck tyres to two local community projects in Buckinghamshire, where the NTDA directorate is also based.

The first is Lindengate, a new charity located in Wendover, Bucks which aims to provide support, to those dealing with mental health issues. Lindengate’s key objective is to develop its four acre site near Wendover into a much needed Social and Therapeutic Horticulture facility, specifically for those dealing with a wide range of mental health issues. The charity needs 15 tractor and 50 truck tyres to build raised flower and vegetable beds in its grounds.

The second project is the Healthy Living Centre in Aylesbury. The Healthy Living Centre Community Interest Company (CIC) aims to improve the health and well-being of people living and working in Buckinghamshire. Its work primarily focuses on those living in areas of disadvantage in Aylesbury.

It provides a range of services and opportunities for the community. These include a café, over 50 activities and services including parent and toddler groups, legal advice services, senior citizen exercise classes, adult learning classes, stop smoking service and lots more for all the community. It also runs two Children’s Centres. The Healthy Living Centre also requires a selection of Truck and Tractor tyres to be used in children’s play areas.

NTDA Director Stefan Hay said: “Disposing of end of life tyres remains a problem for our industry. These projects both represent an ideal opportunity to give some used tyres a new environmentally sound purpose which will bring many people with mental health issues and social disadvantages joy. In the first instance, companies interested in donating tyres should contact me via stefanhay@ntda.co.uk “.

Tyres should be in reasonably good condition and companies would need to be in a position to deliver the tyres to the charities in Wendover and Aylesbury.
