Singex: Tyrexpo Africa 2014 ended on a high

Show organiser striving for bigger and 2016 show

Tyrexpo Africa 2014’s organisers Singex are describing the show as a success, saying “it lived up to its reputation once again as the major tyre event of the year on the African continent”. According to the company, the show – held from 4 to 6 March at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa – showcased “the widest selection of new brands of leading South African and international manufacturers” and featured 134 exhibitors and welcomed about 1,200 visitors from 17 African and international countries.

The event was well received by the attendees who were there to meet importers and distributors, and stay abreast of the latest industry developments. Over 70 per cent of the visitors cited strong recommendation to their business associates. Exhibitors were also pleased with the improved quality of the visitors, and many of them transacted larger volumes of business this year.

Singex acquired ECI International, which started the African show some years ago, last July and was hosting the show for the first time since the acquisition. Aloysius Arlando, CEO of Singex was there to open the show and commented: “ECI has developed a very strong and sustainable concept, and we intend to build on this foundation and take the Tyrexpo series to greater heights over the next few years”.

In addition to expanding Tyrexpo Africa, Singex reports that plans are also in place to bring the Tyrexpo series of shows to other continents such as South America and the Middle East. The next event in the Tyrexpo portfolio, Brityrex 2014, will be held in Manchester, United Kingdom from 7 to 9 October, followed by Tyrexpo Asia 2015 in Singapore from 24 to 26 March, and Tyrexpo India 2015 in Chennai, India from 7 to 9 July.
