Infinity to supply tyres to British drift team

Date: 13th March 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Infinity Tyres has secured a partnership with Acorn Motorsport Division (AMD) for the Maxxis British Drift Championship (BDC) season. 2012 marks the event’s fifth year, which this time starts on Saturday 21 April at the Teesside Autodrome. Championship are already said to be at record levels, with drivers from all over Europe – including France, Sweden, The Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Belgium and Ireland – registering their intention to take part.

Scott Brandon, Team Principle at AMD, said he was very excited about the partnership and stated that: “To have Infinity Tyres on board as a tyre partner really does give us a huge boost and allows us to take the team to the next level. We believe we produce some of the highest quality cars in the BDC and having a product as strong as Infinity Tyres on the cars is essential to maximise all performance possibilities. AMD have been working very hard behind the scenes during the closed season and this partnership is the final part of the jigsaw. Infinity’s commitment to developing their product so as to give us the highest level of performance possible is essential in our development”.

Jorge Crespo, Infinity’s European general manager said Infinity “are deeply committed to the sport of drifting, having already had great success in Europe with drift pilots such as Oliver Harsh in Germany, winning his respective championship, and Sébastien Lepert in France, regularly finishing in podium positions using the popular INF-050 model”.

This year, the BDC has also partnered up with Greenlight TV, which means that each round of the championship will be filmed and it will appear in the 30-minute Motorsport Mundial programme, which will air on the UK’s Channel 5. Furthermore, Motorsport Mundial will also be broadcast worldwide on Sky Sports and ESPN, hence ensuring audiences of over 600 million people worldwide.

Crespo also said that “it was enormously exciting” to be given the chance to contribute to the development of the British Drift Championship and AMD, and stated that Infinity “are proud to be in Partnership with Acorn Motorsport Division. With the recent news that the BDC will be reaching millions of homes via television in 2012 the future certainly looks very positive!”
