Bridgestone streamlines North American commercial tyre business

Date: 6th May 2011 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

The formation of a new group to handle Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations’ commercial tyre business has led to the elimination of some 30 jobs within the organisation. Bridgestone Americas reports the job reductions are effective immediately; the creation of the Bridgestone Commercial Solutions Group to handle the company’s Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions and Off Road Tire, US & Canada Tire Sales divisions has rendered these positions superfluous.

“While these are difficult decisions, they were made in a manner designed to ensure fairness and to put a stronger focus on our customers’ needs,” explained Kurt Danielson, president of the newly-created Bridgestone Commercial Solutions Group. “Further, this action reflects a commitment to make sound decisions that will benefit our customers and our business for the long-term.”

In his new role, Kurt Danielson will report to Saul Solomon, executive vice-president, Bridgestone Americas, and President, US & Canada Commercial Tire Operations, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. Introducing the new group, Solomon said “our vision is to be the clear leader in our industries. This realignment puts the right people in the right places. Kurt is a strong leader and will be able to bring this team together in a way that optimises our strengths and expertise to better serve our customers.”

“Our business is to provide solution for our customers,” added Danielson. “We believe that by creating one team for our new truck tyre, retread and OTR business we’ll better leverage our talent, create a more cohesive team and offer a higher level of service.”
