Bridgestone begins rollout of OTR tyre monitoring system

Date: 26th September 2012 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

During the US-based MINExpo International trade show, Bridgestone Corporation unveiled its market-ready tyre pressure monitoring system for OTR radials. Marketed under the B-TAG (Bridgestone Intelligent Tag) name, this new system functions by utilising Bridgestone-developed sensors to measure and report both tyre pressure and temperature in real time.

Claimed benefits of using B-TAG are a safer work environment through the early detection of potential tyre problems; greater efficiency courtesy of better tyre management, which extends tyre life and reduces the amount of work involved in tyre maintenance; plus increased productivity and reduced downtime.

B-TAG is now available in North America, and Bridgestone reports that sales will soon be extended to the global market. Bridgestone says it will incorporate B-TAG into its mining sector product portfolio; in a statement announcing the system’s commercial launch, the tyre maker said “the Bridgestone Group will not only provide customers with advanced ORR tyre technology, but also superior services using B-TAG. Combining both tyres and services, the Group will provide a total business solution for mining customers, giving them the value they need and want.”
