Bridgestone Tyres Praised in Which? Test

Date: 13th March 2006 Author: Tyrepress Editors Comments: 0

Bridgestone’s premium high-performance and touring tyres have received praise from Which?, the UK’s leading consumer watchdog magazine. Which? magazine tested 30 tyres in varying sizes from mainstream manufacturers, with Bridgestone’s Turanza ER300 rated the top tyre in the 14-inch class, and its high-performance Potenza RE050A tyre named as ‘Best buy’ in the 17-inch category.

The comprehensive study tested the tyres for a variety of attributes, including dry braking, wet braking, wear, noise, and dry handling. Both the Bridgestone tyres fared well in all these categories, particularly in dry handling where they were given top ratings. “These results are tremendously encouraging for us,” said Andy Lane, marketing manager at Bridgestone UK. “We invest a great deal of time and money in ensuring our products are among the safest, most reliable, and most comfortable on the market, and this test suggests that investment is paying off.”

Turanza ER300 touring tyre was declared the top tyre in the 14-inch class. Described as having the ‘best dry grip in this size’, with ‘excellent wet braking’ capabilities, the tyre achieved an impressive 70 per cent score across all criteria, a full five per cent more than its nearest rival.

The Potenza RE050A is available in 32 sizes, ranging from 225/50 R16 to 285/30 R19, and the Turanza ER300 is available in 30 sizes, from 185/60 R14 H to 225/45 ZR17. The tyres can be purchased from First Stop outlets and other major tyre retailers.
