The Continental brand’s return to the OTR tyre segment has gained traction with the official launch of the ContiEarth range at MINExpo. Continental presented two versions of ContiEarth at the Las Vegas show, the EM-Master and the RDT-Master.
The global OTR market of a decade ago differed vastly from that of today. Mining tyres from established manufacturers were rarer than precious metals, used OTR tyres were changing hands for more than the retail new tyre price, and desperate machinery manufacturers even resorted to delivering equipment to customers sans tyres. In response to this […]
Three years ago, Continental began focusing on non-automotive areas of its business in order to better balance the company’s sales footprint. An early beneficiary of this new emphasis was Continental’s Commercial Specialty Tires (CST) business, with the first investments to grow the CST portfolio directed at the port tyre segment. Now, in 2016, it is the turn of earthmover tyres, and a new EM range will be introduced later this year. As was the case with the port tyre range, the earthmover products will reflect the 2013-initiated drive to establish the Continental name as the company’s primary brand in the OTR sector.
Maxam showed its new solid tyre range at June’s Recycling Aktiv show at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport in June. It was the first time Maxam has taken part in Recycling Aktiv.
Last time, more than 10,000 visitors attended the show and, for the 2015 event, there were over 200 names on the exhibitor list. Live demonstrations form an integral part of the show, including a working scrap metal yard. The Maxam stand was manned by personnel from Interpneu; the company’s dealer in Germany, backed up by members of the senior management team from Maxam in Luxembourg. These included Kevin Buckley, sales manager, Europe; Stefan Blindenberg, business development manager, France & Benelux and Peter Kraus, bdm, Germany, Austria & Switzerland. One visitor to the stand was so impressed with the appearance of the tyres and the breadth of the range that he immediately invited Peter Kraus to his company to talk business.
