FermRFID and Camso in multi-year RFID agreement
FermRFID, a Division of FineLine Technologies, and Camso have announced a multi-year RFID development agreement to commercialize a patent pending RFID solution for solid tyres called the “plug.” The solution, which has undergone development and testing by FermRFID and Camso for two years, can uniquely identify tyres and track them throughout the entire supply chain from manufacturing, vulcanization, warehousing, shipping and at customer locations.

Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT) sees a future for these plants as a material within the tyres it makes; it recently entered into a joint research agreement with US biotechnology company Kultevat, Inc. to develop new compounding methods based on TKS/Russian dandelion rubber, with the aim of integrating these into its tyre manufacturing process.

The latest generation of OTR tyre for rigid dump trucks from Magna Tyres is now available. Called the Magna MA04+, the E4 tread radial is designed for surface mine applications and is produced in seven popular sizes, 27.00R49, 33.00R51, 37.00R57, 40.00R57, 46/90R57, 50/80R57 and 59/80R63. Compound options include cut resistant (A), heat resistant (B) and standard (S).

First half 2018 earnings at Continental AG are now expected to be around 150 million euros less than previously projected, the company reports. To blame for this negative development are exchange rate and inventory valuation effects, primarily in Continental’s tyre business. In response to anticipated lower earnings, Continental has revised its outlook for adjusted operating result (adjusted EBIT) within its Rubber Group for the period – this is expected to be around 100 million euros lower than in the first half of 2017.

Dunlop takes over from Bridgestone as Saroléa technical partner
After four years of partnership with Bridgestone, Belgian motorcycle brand Saroléa has now selected Dunlop as a technical partner for its Saroléa SP7 electric racing motorcycle. Dunlop comments that the change of technical partner accompanies yesterday’s announcement of the next goal for Saroléa, which is to be recognised as a candidate for future Le Mans 24h and FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) competition and thus directly compete with the most powerful petrol-powered EWC machines. The switch, adds Dunlop, was a move Saroléa made “to help achieve this goal.”
