Goodyear introduces new RL-5K OTR tyre with three-star load capacity

New wheel loader tyre joins the versatile GP-3E previously launched in 2024, extending the company’s range for the OTR sector

Goodyear has launched the new three-star RL-5K Off-the-Road (OTR) tyre for large wheel loaders and wheel dozers. The RL-5K is Goodyear’s newest radial OTR tyre in the 45/65R45 tyre size and is constructed to withstand the air pressure necessary to deliver an increased three-star load capacity, which translates to a 16 per cent increase in load carrying capacity, based on Tyre & Rim Association data versus RL-5K two-star predecessor in this size The RL-5K with three-star capacity also features a deep, 250-level durable tread to deliver cut resistance and traction in severe underfoot conditions.

“The RL-5K design has been updated to meet the increasing customer need for larger wheel loaders that meet the specifications of the newer vehicles entering the market,” said Loic Ravasio, general manager, Global & Americas OTR. “We are continuing to improve our product performance and staying with the evolving market and vehicle requirements to ensure we deliver for our hard-working OTR customers.”

The construction of the RL-5K with three-star load capacity provides a stronger radial carcass with bigger bead section and stronger ply wires to help deliver uniform product performance. Additional features include: extra-deep 250-level tread depth helps promote long hours to removal and cut protection; a multi-directional tread pattern with solid centre line helps support high torque applications with long wear and a smooth ride; larger bead bundle and radial construction enhances lower sidewall durability and promotes a softer ride and improved treadwear; and Hi-Stability Technology used in the radial sidewall and casing construction provide stability and help reduce bucket sway and increase machine stability in loading operations.

The RL-5K joins Goodyear’s previous release of 2024 for the OTR segment, the GP-3E. The GP-3E line is a general purpose OTR tyre offered in several sizing options that features specially formulated tread compounds engineered to support longer wear and advanced abrasion resistance for various types of underfoot conditions. A deep, versatile tread design and sizing options means the GP-3E offers toughness and flexibility to handle construction and material loading and carrying jobs.

The GP-3E is equipped with a new tread design balances traction and treadwear for a variety of applications. It also incorporates multiple steel belt construction, which optimises uptime and productivity through improved resistance to cuts and penetrations. Specially formulated tread compounding supports longer wear and advanced abrasion resistance for optimised cost per hour. Versatile design and sizing options to accommodate conventional diesel engine, hybrid and electric vehicles.
