Continental recalls 9,988 all-season van tyres in Canada

Date: 17th May 2021 Author: Chris Anthony Comments: 0

Continental is recalling 9,988 Continental VanContact 4Season tyres in Canada. According to the 27 April filing with Transport Canada that was updated on 5 May, “In winter conditions, the VanContact 4Season tyres that are part of the recall do not meet the minimum snow traction requirements of Canadian regulations.” And, as a result, “The tyres may not provide the expected traction in severe snow weather conditions, which may increase the risk of a crash.” Continental reports that it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries resulting from use of the tyres.

News of the Canadian recall follows a substantial recall in the USA in February and a smaller UK and European recall in March 2021.

The affected tyres cover seven Continental VanContact 4Season sizes: 185R14, 190/70 R15, 195/75 R16, 205/65 R16, 215/65 R16, 215/70 R15 and 235 65 R16.

According to North American news sources, the affected tyres were produced at several of the company’s European plants and sold in Canada.
