Kirkby Tyres improves truck tyre range and distribution in changing market

Prometeon Tyre Group’s recent appointment of Kirkby Tyres as its official wholesale partner for Pirelli truck & bus product is “a landmark in Kirkby’s history as with this agreement, this is Kirkby’s first appointment as a national distributor of a major tier-1 tyre brand”, according to Dave Dorrity, managing director of Kirkby Tyres.

With the addition of the Pirelli premium truck and bus tyre range, Kirkby Tyres will now be offering a full-tier commercial product portfolio from value tyres, right through to premium. Simon Michael, managing director of Prometeon Tyre Group UK commented: “Kirkby’s newly enhanced UK distribution capabilities means we are able to distribute the Pirelli TBR range to the UK with great efficiency”.

Available from Kirkby from July 2018, the Turkey and Egypt-produced Pirelli TBR range is reportedly available with “conveniently short lead times”. This paired with Kirkby’s recently expanded central distribution facility is designed to ensure that vast stock levels of the full Pirelli TBR range will be readily available to its customers across the UK and Ireland.

Despite today’s rapidly changing truck tyre market, Kirkby reported that it has secured improved lead times and increased stock availability of the Sailun truck tyre brand. Now producing in higher volumes across numerous production facilities, Sailun has adapted to meet the supply requirements of its increased UK market share. This year, Sailun is launching the new STR1 regional trailer tyre and the STL1 Long-Haul trailer tyre.

And what’s more, Double Coin, Kirkby’s long-standing truck tyre brand is in the process of expanding its truck and bus radial tyre manufacturing operations and will soon be producing its extensive range of truck and bus products in various factory locations.
